Due to a change in statute,
from June 2007, Parents Councils will exist in all
Scottish Schools. They replace School Boards and Parent
Teacher Associations. Each individual school has looked
at how this should be formed and the functions it will
perform for their school.
The Parent Council works for the school, with the
school. It looks at any issues which might affect the
school including new legislation, takes part in
consultations and also helps organising fund raising
events.
All parents are automatically members of the Parent
Council Forum. In the past, the PTFA have bought hockey
sticks, football goals, football and netball strips and
computer programs, along with various other school
equipment and funding swimming lessons. The committee is
there to co-ordinate these efforts and looks forward to
meeting you in the future.
